Do Not replace Ringlock Diagonal Brace with Steel Tube Time:2023-04-24

Recently, steel pipe has been used to replace the ringlock diagonal brace on some construction sites. In view of this situation, we will share with you some of the problems that may arise and hope people who misuse the ringlock scaffolding can pay more attention to this.

Similarly, we analyze this phenomenon from two aspects:

1. Cost

We selected the same project to carry out a relevant cost analysis. At present, the rental of ringlock scaffolding is settled according to weight( weight of scaffolding per unit volume(, which is called steel content.

Through the above table, we calculate from the simple weight: The meter weight of the ringlock diagonal brace is only 60% of that of the steel pipe diagonal brace, which reduces the amount of steel used for the scaffold in general. Therefore, It will result in a waste of cost if we use steel pipe as the diagonal brace.

2. Safe

The bearing node to the bearing node of the ringlock diagonal brace can effectively transfer the horizontal load of the whole support, and will not produce additional bending moment for the scaffolding post. In addition, ringlock scaffolding coupler is applied for the vertical diagonal brace and node, which is firm and reliable. The vertical ringlock diagonal brace is a fixed-length post, which has low requirements for workers in the construction process. It can be installed in place in one step, and It is very unlikely that the installation angle does not meet the specification requirements

Tube and clamp scaffolding uses steel pipe as a vertical cross brace, which is connected with the vertical post through the swivel clamp. It is impossible to ensure that the diagonal brace can connect each node, and is bound to produce additional bending moments and affect the bearing capacity of the vertical post. The cross brace is connected to the frame body through the steering fastener. The construction quality cannot be guaranteed. Therefore the clamp that is not tightened enough will not be able to effectively transfer the horizontal load of the frame body. The angle of the cross brace support is temporarily determined by the site construction, with large randomness and uneven quality.

After analysis, it is not difficult to see that if you use steel tubes instead of the ringlock diagonal braces, there might be big problems in cost and safety.
